This next birth story is near and dear to my heart at it is the story of one of my oldest daughter's best friends. I met Jennie through my husband as he used to work with her husband. Although they no longer work together, we have all managed to stay good friends and Jennie and I get our kiddos together any time that we can! My ladies and I always look forward to school holidays as it means we get to see Dylan and her family. Here is the story of little miss Dylan...
After 2 1/2-3 years we finally became pregnant with our first baby, a girl. I enjoyed the pregnancy even with all the worrying that everything I was doing was somehow harmful, you know, working-out, drinking coffee, etc. My doctor was keeping a close eye on the baby and me as the sono tech reported that our little lady was measuring smaller than conception date.
At 38 weeks, I ended up having to deliver due to her not gaining any weight inside womb. (There is a medical term for it but I can never remember it). We went to the hospital on Wednesday, July 30, 2014, and I was given a medicine behind my cervix to help start labor. I was only dilated to 1 cm at that point.
My husband and I hung-out in the hospital that night as just the two of us for the last time, relaxing to the best of our abilities. Then, the next morning at 7 AM my doctor came in and broke my water. I was given an epidural a couple of hours later and after only a couple of pushes our daughter was in my arms. She was beautiful & healthy; passed every test. She was small at only 4 lbs, 13 oz and 19 inches long; but even today she is petite and it has never been concerning.
I have always considered her birth an easy one even with the ongoing concerns over her weight. I was relaxed, after having an epidural, and fell in love the second she was in my arms. Now, she is turning 3-years old this summer and has grown into a beautiful little girl. She continues to amaze me everyday.
